For several years, Boston Furnishing supplied kitchen cabinets from German and Italian manufacturers to homes across Greater Boston. We installed every kitchen ourselves, so we saw exactly how imported cabinetry performs — from the first order to the last adjustment years later. This page explains what we learned, and why we now build European-style cabinets locally instead.

European cabinetry is defined by construction and materials, not geography:
A typical imported kitchen took 3–5 months from final measurement to delivery — manufacturing queue, ocean freight, customs, then trucking from the port. Renovations stood still while clients waited. If a single panel arrived damaged or mis-measured, the wait for its replacement could run several more weeks, with a kitchen sitting half-installed.
When a hinge needed replacing or a drawer front got scratched two years in, the answer was another overseas order — if the manufacturer still produced that line at all. We were responsible to our clients for cabinets whose parts we couldn’t reliably get. For a company whose reputation rests on the installation being right, that was the deciding factor.
Our EuroFusion line is built entirely from the panel stock European manufacturers themselves build with — Italian, German, Portuguese, and Austrian boards from mills like Egger, Kronospan, OneSkin, and Emporio Skin — fitted with European hardware from Blum and Salice, and assembled in our Boston workshop. The materials cross the ocean and stocked priorly; the finished cabinet doesn’t. What changes is everything around the cabinet:
| Imported European | EuroFusion (built locally) | |
|---|---|---|
| Construction | Frameless, European hardware | Same |
| Panels & hardware | European mills, Blum/Salice | Same European panels (Egger, Kronospan, OneSkin, Emporio Skin), same Blum/Salice hardware |
| Typical timeline | 3–5 months | 3–4 weeks |
| Damaged-panel replacement | Weeks (reorder from Europe) | Days (remake in our shop) |
| Parts & warranty service | Dependent on overseas manufacturer | Handled locally by us |
| Customization | Limited to the manufacturer’s catalog | Sized to your kitchen, including non-standard dimensions |
| Installation | By our team | By our team |
If your project is anchored to a specific European brand’s proprietary finish or system, and the timeline can absorb three to four months, an imported line delivers exactly that brand’s look. We no longer supply them, but our installation team still installs customer-supplied European cabinetry regularly, and we’re glad to advise on what to check before you order.
